If you love good design as much as you love green living, make sure you get along to Sustainable House Day 2014, where sustainable homeowners across the country throw open their doors to let the general public see their environmentally friendly homes. This free nationwide event takes place on Sunday 7 September and Sunday 14 September from 10 am to 4 pm; find houses near you here.

Sustainable House Day is an initiative of the Australia Solar Council and is now in its 13th year – since it began in 2001, over 1000 homes have opened their doors to over 100,000 Australians. Let this year be your chance to discover how you can incorporate renewable energy, recycling and other sustainable practices into your home and everyday lifestyle. You’ll pick up some top tips and ideas from sustainable homeowners and get to check out some of Australia’s most beautiful and eye-catching houses. There’s no place like a sustainably designed home!
