The Ownership Project

Ever look at a textile or print and wonder ‘how do they do it?’ Well, may you wonder no longer! In addition to working with remote art centres, facilitating community mural painting and showcasing an exhibition of local and Indigenous designers at their gallery, The Ownership Project (TOP) also hosts classes in woodblock printing – just another way this clever organisation is invigorating cultural development through printmaking and textile design. If you’re interested in taking part, TOP’s Reduction Woodblock Workshops are running through May and June at their studio in Melbourne’s Fitzroy. Traditional inks, modern techniques reminiscent of classic Japanese design, and working with natural woodgrain are just some of the skills to take home from the four-week intensive. Oh, as well as the delightful series of small-run prints you’ll be printing with your own original design!
