Sew, Share, and Win: Join The Spotlight Sew Challenge Today!

Cotton and linen and muslin, oh my! As many Australian sewists will attest, Spotlight is a veritable playground of fabrics and notions and all sorts of creative bits and bobs to help bring your projects to life. Laura our Sewing Manager popped along to Spotlight in North Lakes recently to take a peep at their vast array of textiles –  plenty of oohing and aahing to be had! The visit was also in conjunction with an exciting new competition Spotlight has just launched – the Sew Challenge is here!

All you have to do to enter is whip something up using Spotlight fabric, and post on Instagram, tagging @SpotlightStores and #SpotlightSewChallenge. Think cute crafting project (Spotlight happens to have lots of free projects on their website), a special gift for a friend, or even that Peppermint pattern you’ve had on your to-do list for a while! The top five entries will be picked by Spotlight via Instagram for the most creative designs, and then the public will vote on the winner. And what can you win, my friend? It’s a doozy!

The winner will nab both an Elna HD1000 Heavy Duty Sewing Machine (valued at $575) and one Semco Basic Sewing Trolley Bag (valued at $50). How good is that?!

Also good is the fact that Spotlight has lowered the everyday price on over 1,600 fabrics across the store – plus VIP Club Members save even more! Take that cost of living (and sewing is a necessity anyway, right? Right?!).

Head over to Spotlight for more info and then get stitching folks – the competition closes at 9.59pm AEDT on Tuesday 11 March 2025. Looking forward to seeing what you make!

Another great make from Lisa from @SunnySewsEveryday:

My #PeppermintWaratahWrapDress is finished and I’m so proud of it. It has been designed not to flap open and flash your pants in the wind, so I feel confident it will be a great wheelchair or standing dress in English weather.

✨ INSTANT CLASSIC ✨

The Peppermint Myrtle Shift Dress is a beginner-friendly make with a few special details based on the ever-stylish shift shape – the perfect dress you need in your wardrobe right now!

Myrtle cuts above the knee with options to customise the length. Don’t think she’s reserved for hot weather either: try a heavier-weight fabric to turn your Myrtle into a pinafore-style garment for layering.

For our fabrics we chose two from our lovely sewing partner @Karmme_Apparel – the bold Rottnest Stripes in a lightweight, soft-drape cotton, and the quality linen in the handpainted Mexico Collection.

Get making the Myrtle – the only question is, can you stop at just one?
