National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week

Today marks the start of National Reconciliation Week, a time for all Australians to learn more about our shared histories, cultures and achievements. This year’s theme Let’s Talk Recognition encourages us to think about how we can better recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. Anyone can get involved and register their event on the Reconciliation Australia website (or you can just check out other great events to attend!). The website also offers a range of fact sheets on the two milestones the week celebrates: the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision which last year had its 20 year anniversary! Keep your eyes peeled for a range of ambassadors such as Emma-Louise, Meshel Laurie, James Henry and Alex Dyson, who will be singing, blogging, talking and tweeting all through the week!
