Two new exhibitions at Brisbane’s hip Artisan gallery in Fortitude Valley are showcasing innovative environmentally conscious design in two very different ways. ‘Greensmith’ is an exciting Queensland/San Francisco collaboration featuring beautiful and unique work by jewellers in both cities; their pieces confront environmental issues by incorporating ethically sourced gems and upcycled or reclaimed materials. ‘Remember or Revive’ – part of an ongoing series from online magazine The Fashion Archives – presents two striking visions of Queensland style: one full of sun-soaked optimism, the other showing the realities of our wasteful habits and the effect they’re having on the planet. Both shows are on until 27 September, so catch them while you can!
