Nature’s Palette

From tapestry weaving to quilting to garment making – every good project begins with a beautiful colourway. If you want to learn the basics of DIY dyeing from an expert, the creative folks at Melbourne’s Handmaker’s Factory are running a workshop in natural dyes this weekend at their Kensington studio. Dye master Jules from Woollenflower will be leading the session, which will introduce participants to the principles of natural dyes, including extracting colour and mordanting. You’ll have hands-on experience brewing a dye bath using seasonally available species of plant and flower, and create some fabric and yarn samples to take home with you.

Spaces in the three-hour session are limited, so we’re very pleased to be giving away one single pass to this weekend’s workshop! Or if fabric crafts are more your thing, we’re giving away a ticket to the upcoming Make a Lampshade class too! Visit our Facebook page for more details on how you can enter. {Entries close 5pm AEST Thursday October 9, 2014. One ticket per entrant.}.
