With a recent study showing that about one third of food produced globally gets lost or wasted, the UN Environment Program and the Food and Agriculture Organisation have just launched the Think, Eat, Save campaign to help reduce food wastage. It aims to provide a united global vision for tackling the problem, along with a new information sharing portal to support the many existing initiatives. Far from just calling on governments and other international organisations to take action, the information portal also provides tips and tricks for consumers, including a very handy top ten tips to reduce your ‘foodprint’ as well as your food bill. And if you don’t want to read through pages of fact sheets, the website also has a multimedia page with a range of videos providing helpful hints on food recycling, meal planning and lots more!
