Sewing School: Three Tiers For The Pasadena Rara Skirt!

Give me a Y! Give me an E! Give me an S! What’s that spell? It’s a heck YES from us to flounces, frills and layers with the Pasadena Rara Skirt sewing pattern. With a nod to the 80s, we’re cheering on this modern take of the classic rara with three fabulous tiers and a midi-length skirt. Wear it with a floaty, feminine vibe or an edgy energy – the Pasadena Rara Skirt gives you the freedom to express yourself. Good times!

Now, details. In the waistband department, you’ve got the best of both worlds: a zipper closure at the back (for structure and a close fit!) and two short elastic panels on either side (for comfort!).

For fabric, we went with Spoonflower’s soft-drape Seersucker in Bengal Navi Tiger, a print created by the talented Holli Zollinger. If you like the delicate fall of our make, then reach for something in a similar weight, like viscose, rayon, lightweight cotton or silk. If you want those tiers to pop, use a more structured fabric, like a heavier cotton, poplin or mid-weight linen – and get that volume!

The Pasadena Rara Skirt is an intermediate sew, and comes in our signature 16 sizes – A-P.

We heart our sewing partner Spoonflower for helping to make this pattern possible! From fabric to wallpaper to home decor, Spoonflower is one of the largest marketplaces for designs by independent artists from around the world. They are committed to taking steps to reduce environmental and negative impacts as much as possible, making their products with water-based inks and thoughtfully sourced materials using their innovative, on-demand printing process.

Each order is printed in the USA by their team of manufacturing experts, and when you make a purchase, an independent artist earns up to 15 per cent royalties on their design. Pop over to Spoonflower for inspiration for your next me-made project.

And special thanks to our fabulous model Sam AKA @CurvySam for battling the heat with us at Howard Smith Wharves on a 36 degree day!

Want to ramp up your Rara? Take a peep at the Peppermint Valentine Ruffle Top. She’s a perfect match for the Pasadena Rara Skirt (as seen here above).

We can’t wait to see your creations – don’t forget to tag #PeppermintPatterns and #PeppermintPasadenaRaraSkirt to share your makes!
