The Business of Fashion

As Melbourne warms up for this year’s Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival, all eyes may well be on the runway, but behind the scenes there’s a great series of business events and industry forums happening throughout the week. Featuring top speakers and creative leaders from Australia and abroad, the series captures a diversity of opinion and advice on a range of industry related topics, from e-commerce to consumer behaviour.

Redefining Heritage – Artisan Ethical Sourcing will see two expert speakers share their know-how on combining ethics and fashion – Paul van Zyl, co-founder of luxury label Maiyet, and Simone Cipriani, Head of the Ethical Fashion Initiative of the International Trade Centre, whose recent projects include collaborative collections with Sass & Bide, Vivienne Westwood, Karen Walker and Stella McCartney. Between them, this pair has hands-on experience working with artisans in Uganda, Colombia, India, Mongolia and beyond.

If you’re interested in exploring ethical artisan partnerships in your business or just want to learn more, you can buy tickets to this seminar here or as part of the Business Events Series Bundle.
