Did you know it was Indigenous Literacy Day last week? A national event aimed at raising awareness (and vital funds!) for literacy in over 200 remote communities, Indigenous Literacy Day saw an impressive array of events and fundraisers held right across the country, with participating book sellers and publishers donating 5% of their earnings to the cause. Even though it’s only officially one day a year, it’s an important issue to raise awareness about all year round. One way you can still get involved is through the Get Caught Reading campaign. All you need to do is make a donation, big or small, upload a photo of yourself reading and share the initiative with your friends! Find out more about Indigenous Literacy Day and how you can help on the Indigenous Literacy Foundation website.
