The New Generation

Forget crystal balls and palm reading – if you want to foretell the future of fashion, visit First Site Gallery for the Refashioned: Sustainable Design Survey. Current and graduate RMIT students’ approaches to sustainable fashion are on display, taking in the designer’s contribution in the form of zero waste pattern making, dyeing techniques and fabric manufacture, but also showcasing ways that consumers can do their bit to ensure garment longevity via repair and clothing care. Put simply, the survey is a model of how fashion could look in the near future if the eco-aware among us have their way. Of course if this all sounds a bit heavy, you could always just go along and admire the creative talent. Refashioned takes place from March 27 – April 5 at First Site Gallery, Storey Hall basement, 344 Swanston Street, Melbourne.
