As part of the festivities for International Women’s Day, a celebratory concert, Half the Sky, is being held in Melbourne tonight (March 7) to raise funds for the International Women’s Development Agency (IWDA) and their partners. As well as entertainment from a line up of well known Australian artists like Claire Bowditch, Em Rusciano and Mahalia Barnes, the event will also feature video messages from IWDA partner organisations across Asia and the Pacific, offering insights and sharing their successes in addressing women’s rights and gender equity. A keynote speech will also be delivered by Governer General and patron of IWDA, Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce.
