Eco Fashion continues to thrive on the international stage, with the recent New York Fashion Week being no exception. A raft of eco and ethical designers were on show including Samantha Pleet, John Patrick, Edun and Costello Tagliapietra. But one of the newest faces to debut at this year’s Fashion Week was up and coming Norwegian designer Nina Skarra, who melds traditional Scandinavian design with sustainable practices, using 100% biodegradable and eco-friendly materials. Although she is a newcomer to NYFW, she has the right red carpet credentials having previously designed for Livia Firth, creator of the Green Carpet Challenge, and actress Missi Pyle, who wore a sustainable gown to last year’s Academy Awards. Nina’s ambition is to have a global impact on the sustainability agenda and show that beautiful fashion can also be good for the earth. Looks like she’ll be one to watch!
