Meet Your New Quilty Pleasure: The Peppermint Viola Quilted Jacket!

Peppermint-ViolaQuiltedJacket-067

Say hey to your new snuggly sidekick, the Peppermint Viola Quilted Jacket, perfect to keep you feeling cosy while looking cool on those in-between-season days.

This quilted cutie has it all: a cropped length for easy layering, a grown-on collar and bound seams for keeping things classy, and long sleeves you can turn back to reveal a flash of your lining fabric. Oh, and did we mention pockets? Perfect to keep your mitts toasty! Sew it true to size for the perfect transeasonal weight or size it up to fit a chunky knit underneath when things get frosty – the Viola Quilted Jacket has you covered.

Made in collaboration with our friends at Australian fabric wholesaler Two Green Zebras, our version of the Viola Quilted Jacket features Liberty of London’s Ciara print for the outer fabric, a stunning botanical design plucked straight from the archives and reimagined from a 1960s scarf pattern. We picked a sweet cotton poplin for the lining fabric. Two Green Zebras is proud to be the exclusive Australian distributor of Liberty Fabrics, bringing these iconic prints to local makers who love a little luxury in their me-mades. With an extensive range of Liberty Tana Lawns and Lasenby Quilting Cottons, Two Green Zebras stock the entire Liberty Classic Collection in their Sunshine Coast warehouse, regularly bringing in special collections from London, Italy and Japan. Head to the Two Green Zebras website to check for stockists, and follow their Liberty page on Instagram @Regent_Street_Fabrics or @2GreenZebras.

We also worked with Glen and Scott at RBD (Rollason Bowring Design) in Melbourne to bring our pattern vision to life. Ethical Clothing Australia accredited and an Australian Fashion Council member, RBD are well-known in the fashion industry for their patternmaking knowledge and expertise.

The Viola Quilted Jacket hits the sweet spot for both established sewists keen to learn a new skill (quilting!), and quilters looking to try their hand at garment-making. Top tip from us: invest in a walking foot for your sewing machine as it will make the whole quilting process much easier!

As the world careens towards AI seeping into our feeds, finds and even friend-zones, it's becoming increasingly hard to ignore.

We just wanted to say that here at Peppermint, we are choosing to not print or publish AI-generated art, photos, words, videos or content.

Merriam-Webster’s human editors chose 'slop' as the 2025 Word of the Year – they define it as “digital content of low quality that is produced usually in quantity by means of artificial intelligence.” The problem is, as AI increases in quality, it's becoming more and more difficult to ascertain what's real and what's not.

Let's be clear here, AI absolutely has its place in science, in climate modelling, in medical breakthroughs, in many places... but not in replacing the work of artists, writers and creatives.

Can we guarantee that everything we publish is AI-free? Honestly, not really. We know we are not using it to create content, but we are also relying on the artists, makers and contributors we work with, as well as our advertisers, to supply imagery, artwork or words created by humans. AI features are also creeping into programs and apps too, making it difficult to navigate. But we will do our best to avoid it and make a stand for the artists and creatives who have had their work stolen and used to train AI machines, and those who are now losing work as they are replaced by this energy-sapping, environment-destroying magic wand.

Could using it help our productivity and bottom line? Sure. And as a small business in a difficult landscape, that's a hard one to turn down. We know other publishers who use AI to write stories, create recipes, produce photo shoots... but this one is important to us.

'Touch grass' was also a Merriam-Webster Word of the Year. We'll happily stick with that as a theme, thanks very much. 🌿
