Ever wanted to go behind your favourite food brand and find out about their environmental and ethical record? Oxfam’s latest Behind the Brands initiative assesses the agricultural sourcing practices of the world’s ten largest food and beverage companies like Pepsi Co, Nestle and Mars, to help consumers hold major food suppliers to account. Using this information, they have created a scorecard which looks at themes like land and water use as well as corporate transparency. The initiative is part of Oxfam’s GROW campaign, to help create a world where everyone has enough to eat. Although it has only recently launched, Oxfam have committed to a yearly review to improve scorecard indiactors and they will also be updating data as it arises. Go behind the brands here.
