Queensland Art Gallery’s exquisite Quilts 1700-1945 exhibition opened its doors last month, showcasing over 200 years of British quiltmaking and the hidden histories and untold stories that lay beneath each stitch. From the highly decorative to the homemade, a smorgasbord of stunning textiles are on show at the Gallery until September 22, accompanied by a diverse program of contemporary talks, workshops and markets. On the third Sunday of each month, the Gallery plays host to the Sunday Stitch-Ups program in the sunny Sculpture Garden, including Suitcase Rummage markets, embroidering workshops from The Stitchery (Peppermint‘s new Sewing School partners), and talks by local artists, designers and media (which may or may not include yours truly). The Sunday Stitch-Ups program is completely free to attend, but if you’d like to nab some free tickets to the exhibition as well, comment below telling us about a treasured textile (of any form!) in your life. Four double passes are on offer, with the overall winner also treated to the beautiful Quilts companion publication celebrating the dedicated art of quiltmaking and all the narratives that lay within. {Comp closes Sunday, July 21 at 5pm. Australian entrants only}.
