As we move towards the end of the year and our schedules become increasingly hectic, the pressure of our to-do lists can kick in with a vengeance leaving us feeling overwhelmed – there are so many things to buy, people to see, errands to run and places to be! But the simple practice of mindfulness meditation is one way that we can use to give ourselves a mental break and help to bring more peace, calm, happiness and focus into our lives. If you’re struggling to make yourself stop and sit down for any length of time you might like to try using the free meditation timer from startup company Satorio; you can set it for two, five, ten minutes or more, and it signals the start and end of your session with a chiming bell. Importantly, for every minute you meditate Satorio will donate 10 grains of rice to a starving person through Oxfam – which means you’re not only doing something that’s great for your own mind and body, you’ll also be helping others around the world. There’s never been a better time to unwind!
