There is no greater joy to us than spotting a brilliantly made Peppermint pattern in the wild. We are the naturalists with our binoculars trained on the safari of creative talent and you are the beautiful giraffes and zebras and lions. Except none of you are eating each other. We hope!

We’re not giving up on this metaphor. In the great circle of life that is the Peppermint sewing community, we want to hold some of you aloft on Pride Rock like baby Simba to receive the adulation and admiration you deserve. So we’ve put together a roundup of some of the marvellous makes we’ve seen this month. If you want to show off your sensational sewing be sure to tag us in your posts and you might see yourself in The Stitch Up in months to come!

SUMMERTIME RADNESS

We are shivering our way through wintertime here at Peppermint HQ but out there across the world, some of you are soaking up the sun in your Peppermint Spring Shorts! In Norway, @ByMillaMutten has paired her botanical print shorts with a Bathurst Top, while in Germany @LucieStegnerSewing’s ra-ra-red shorts go with her matching VikiSews crop.

PINNY POWER

Black and white feel so right when paired with the Peppermint Milton Pinafore. @Karenjjo looks cute as a calf in her cow print and @Atelier_Toile (whose previous Chanel-inspired Milton-make is well worth checking out) has knocked our socks off again with her monochromatic floral dress hack of the pinny.

FANCY PANTS

The Peppermint Wide-Leg Pants are a true-blue, TNT pattern, and they pack an absolute punch when made with a bold colourful print. From @ForAllLove’s blooming beauties, @Bitch_CanStitch’s colourful checks, to @Alana.Yang’s powerful pickles, these pants kick butt!

MAXIMUM POWER

The vast variety of looks made from the same pattern is such a joy to see. Two Peppermint Wide-Strap Maxis from opposite ends of the style spectrum caught our eye – @Sew.Chelle‘s sleek monochromatic make and @Spetzie’s maximalist, quilted scrap spectacular!

MATCHY MATCHY

The Peppermint Ruffle-Sleeve Top and the Peppermint Spring Shorts: two great tastes that taste great together? It would seem so, as both @Sewcrastination and @The.TipsySewists have paired them to make some terrifically comfy-looking matching sets!

MODEL À LA MODE

Check out these two classy makes of some classic patterns in timeless neutral linens. But we must admit we paired @PomPontricot’s Ruffle-Sleeve Top and @EmilyLightly‘s Everyday Dress together because of their matching model poses. Photogenic perfection, ladies!

As the world careens towards AI seeping into our feeds, finds and even friend-zones, it's becoming increasingly hard to ignore.

We just wanted to say that here at Peppermint, we are choosing to not print or publish AI-generated art, photos, words, videos or content.

Merriam-Webster’s human editors chose 'slop' as the 2025 Word of the Year – they define it as “digital content of low quality that is produced usually in quantity by means of artificial intelligence.” The problem is, as AI increases in quality, it's becoming more and more difficult to ascertain what's real and what's not.

Let's be clear here, AI absolutely has its place in science, in climate modelling, in medical breakthroughs, in many places... but not in replacing the work of artists, writers and creatives.

Can we guarantee that everything we publish is AI-free? Honestly, not really. We know we are not using it to create content, but we are also relying on the artists, makers and contributors we work with, as well as our advertisers, to supply imagery, artwork or words created by humans. AI features are also creeping into programs and apps too, making it difficult to navigate. But we will do our best to avoid it and make a stand for the artists and creatives who have had their work stolen and used to train AI machines, and those who are now losing work as they are replaced by this energy-sapping, environment-destroying magic wand.

Could using it help our productivity and bottom line? Sure. And as a small business in a difficult landscape, that's a hard one to turn down. We know other publishers who use AI to write stories, create recipes, produce photo shoots... but this one is important to us.

'Touch grass' was also a Merriam-Webster Word of the Year. We'll happily stick with that as a theme, thanks very much. 🌿
