Out of the gallery and into the real world! A group of emerging designers from QUT’s fashion school are turning to Indigenous prints for inspiration, using traditional designs commonly seen in art galleries for high fashion cotton, silk and wool garments. A collaboration between QUT students, the CEA Fashion Incubator and Indigenous artists from Cairns and Mapoon, The Contemporary Indigenous Fashion Project will produce a 20-piece garment collection, designed and handmade in Queensland. You can see the collection in the flesh at the QUT fashion show, November 21 – 22.
