$I’ve very quietly joined the #Whole30FabricChallenge by pinkmimosabyjacinta so I decided that I should probably stop hoarding all of my nice fabrics and start making them into very wearable things. I was originally going to go with something that would be for more special occasions, but a fabric like this deserves to be on display often, especially when the weather is nice. So, I went with the inthefolds x peppermintmagazine #EverydayDress. I knew it was the right decision to make something that I know I’ll reach for time and time again, especially since this fabric—with what I think resembles Golden State Poppies—reminds me of my home state of California. I purchased this fabric from stonemountainfabric. I chose a size 2 (H5’4”, B36” W31” H35”), but probably could have sized down to a size 1. The only alterations made were due to the constraints of the width and height of the fabric. This fabric is only about 43” so I used what I could for the sleeves, and I halved the sleeve hem. I also cut the waistband out to around 78” instead of the 86 5/8” required in the instructions, and I interfaced one piece of it. Despite the sizing, I’m really proud of myself. This was a fairly quick make, though I certainly had some help from yoursara_k ‘s YT tutorial for her versions. This was my cure for the winter sewing blahs... a simple pattern I could finish in one day with materials I had in my stash. I always love the patterns from In The Folds and Peppermint Magazine and this one is no exception! I lengthened the dress and added contrast cuffs as my vintage fabric was not wide enough. Over a merino thermal, it's perfect for a chilly day.
