Notes: skirt in a small (! I've never been a small anything in my life), exactly as the pattern. Lovely, thoughtful details in a nice size range. Super quick sew though and a good beginner pattern. Jacket in size range I-J. I was right on the cusp but sized up. Ended up cutting 6 strips of binding instead of the suggested 4 and used flannelette instead of wadding. Also used a jeans needle because some of those binding junctions are hefty."⁠

Hard decisions had to be made! Speaking of talented, did you know Laura designed the fabulous Viola? Applause all round. 👏🏻

Made with the support of our friends at Australian fabric wholesaler @2GreenZebras, our version of the Viola Quilted Jacket features @LibertyFabrics Ciara print for the outer fabric, a stunning botanical design plucked straight from the archives and reimagined from a 1960s scarf pattern. We picked a sweet cotton poplin for the lining fabric. ⁠

It's Autumn here in Queensland, which means... well, not much. It's still pretty hot. So this idea of using our Skye Shorts as swimwear has us ready to jump into the deep end! 🏊🏼⁠

"I had been hunting for a new swimsuit for our upcoming European vacation but had no luck finding anything I liked or that wasn't hugely expensive. Eventually I decided to make my own and I'm so glad I did. This is the #KaiaSwimsuit from @PaperCutPatterns with the #PeppermintSkyeShorts from @PeppermintMagazine in carnation and clove swim double jersey from @WeAreTheFabricStore ⁠

Firstly the patterns. This was my first time making swimwear so I was a bit apprehensive, especially as I would have preferred to make a toile first to check the fit , but I didn't have anything to make it out of. I needn't have worried about the construction of the swimsuit as the Papercut pattern instructions were so clear and detailed. I had no problems at all. I used the 2 different zigzag stitches recommended in the instructions and it came together really well. I love the twist neck detail and I've always loved their colour blocked version so I copied that.⁠

I like to wear shorts over my swimsuit and the Skye shorts were perfect for this. I omitted the pockets and left the hem raw. With an elasticised back waist they're super comfy and I love the wide legs.⁠

I bought the fabrics in the Fabric Store sale earlier this year. They're a four-way stretch and were easy to work with and feel so lovely to wear. Unlike my current swimsuit that feels a bit like a wetsuit to get on and off, these just glide over your skin - so nice. So now I'm beach ready." 🏖⁠

She has spent the past five years specialising in custom embroidery on the elastic panels of Blundstone boots and has embroidered boots for over 250 customers, both nationally and internationally. What a gorgeous hack of our Paddington Top, created in collab with @FrenchNavyNow_ - such a great base for a dress! ✨

This is my second time using the Peppermint Paddington Top pattern. It’s a top pattern and I extended it into a dress and added pockets, which was super easy. It really was an incredibly easy sew. The agonizing part was print placement. Working with large scale prints never gets easy for me but the payoff is totally worth it!! I love how the large and simple pattern pieces show off the amazing print so well and the print takes the dress to the next level!

I had given myself a deadline for making this dress but found myself wondering why I was sewing this dress in the dead of winter. I was freezing when doing try-ons on in my cold basement sewing area and static made it cling to me. Then I brought it with me on a trip to Mexico and was surprised to find out it was the perfect temperature to wear it there! It was also wonderfully comfy for lots of walking.
