This linen dress was worn by Miss Australia winner Tricia Reschke (now Schooley) during the 1963 Miss International competition as Australia’s ‘national costume’ – how fitting!⁠

The dress was designed by Sydney-based haute couture designer Beril Jents. It features yellow detailing on the neckline and iconic wattle embroidery on the right hip and lower back."⁠

🐌 Happy Sew Slow September Week 2! ⁠

After tidying and organizing in my room I focused my time on a pattern that had been sitting in my stash for over a year. This is such a simple skirt pattern but I still wanted to take time to make a toile and make sure the fit was just right.⁠
⁠
I love the pattern so much I made two skirts. It was a very fast and simple sew for me. (Each skirt was finished in under two hours) This skirt is made from a thifted table linen that I hand dyed over the summer. I scoured, mordanted and dyed it with cutch extract from @maiwa_naturaldyes I’m so happy with the color results! ⁠

I also took time to document the process of getting a just right fit! You can find this video on my YouTube channel linked in my bio! If you’ve never made adjustments or alterations to your clothes before this might come in handy for you.⁠

From @adweek: “A German sheep farm has introduced Rainbow Wool, a textile crafted from the wool of gay rams.

The campaign, developed by the Germany-based agency Serviceplan, is launching its first fashion collection, with Tokio Hotel’s Bill Kaulitz as its lead star. The goal of the collection is to spread awareness for the continuous fight for LGBTQ+ rights globally.”

You can choose between various caps, patches and shoelaces with each purchase supporting the LSVD⁺ (the largest NGO for queer rights in Germany) to continue the work they do for the LGBTQIA+ community in Germany and parts of the world, where it’s illegal or dangerous to be queer. You can even sign up for a ‘sponsorsheep’ to save more gay sheep, increase their flock and produce even more yarn.
