Little words can say a lot. Tired of the flippant phrases used to decorate school books and diaries, entrepreneur Lauren Shuttleworth recently started her own stationery brand – launching now through crowdfunding platform Start Some Good – to bring positive affirmations back into our daily lives. The first Words With Heart collection sports witty and thought-provoking slogans designed to empower and uplift. Continuing to do good long after the ink has dried, all notebooks and journals in the range are made locally in Australia with 100% recycled paper and card, and pens from recycled paper and cornstarch. Plus, 50% of Lauren’s net profits will be donated to charities that work to secure education for women and girls. We’re not the only ones impressed with this bright business idea – Words With Heart recently secured a coveted place in ING Direct’s Dreamstarter Initiative (as featured in Green Scene Issue 23), which means Lauren will receive a well-deserved boost to help reach her crowdfunding tipping point. Visit the campaign page to secure your pre-order of stationery, and drop by the Words With Heart Facebook page for details about winning a very special prize pack as thanks for your support!
