Made in collaboration with Sharon and Justine Cowie, the marvellous mother-daughter duo behind Swim Style Patterns, the Bronte Bathers are a terrific two-piece bikini perfect for beach-ready babes. With high-waisted bottoms and a twist-front top, she’s the perfect combination of fun in the sun and supportive coverage – you can even omit the twist tie and create a bandeau top! Featuring all the bells and whistles, from tidy interior linings to removable bust cups and adjustable straps, by the time you’ve sewn up this simple set, you’ll have levelled up into a swimwear master!

I made the #PeppermintBronteBathers in gorgeous crab swim fabric by @MollyMollyFabric - If you’re afraid of making your own swimwear don’t be! The swim fabric is easier to work with than most knits. Stretching the elastic takes a little bit of getting used to but I’ve made a couple of @SwimStylePatterns togs and the guides for lengths are spot on. Having tried a few different swimwear elastics I would recommend braided elastic as it had good recovery (i.e. doesn't stretch out too much as you sew). You use so little fabric it’s quite cost effective too!

Test drove my new #PeppermintBronteBathers at the beach today. I usually have to do a number of toiles to get the top to fit, but not with this pattern. I’m so glad I didn’t do any pre-adjustments and just tried the pattern as is. For reference I am a 34DD (35.5” upper bust, 40” full bust) and sewed a size M.

Having never made swimwear before, I was a bit unsure when @PeppermintMagazine first approached for a collab, however, I’m really glad that I went through with it…..super chuffed with the end product💗I had a few unpicking moments but the overall process was so much easier than I made it seem in my head. Can confirm that the instructions were pretty clear and straightforward for someone who has never sewn any kind of swimwear before!
