The Stitch Up – Marvel at These Incredible March Makes

We’ve zoomed through March, Peppermint pals and the year shows no sign of slowing down. Take time to stop and smell the roses both literally and figuratively – perhaps with a little scroll through #PeppermintPatterns and some mindful appreciation of all the excellent makes your fellow sewists are stitching together.

That’s what we’ve been doing to fight off the March Madness (don’t know what sport is – assume it’s some kind of pollen-based thing?). To show off some of our faves, we’ve put together a roundup of some of the most fabulous makes we’ve seen this month. If you want to show off your sensational sewing, be sure to tag us in your posts and you might see yourself in The Stitch Up in months to come!

SAMFORD AND SONS

We’re beyond psyched to see your Samford Sets starting to come out! @Sharlene_Handmade_It’s patchworked gingham look is ringing all our bells and pressing all our buttons and @ChrisInSeams’ sensational silky number is serving a luxury spring break fantasy!

SHORT AND SWEET

Playing with the length of these classic patterns, @MeasureFabric is kicking her knees up with a smart tweed Peppermint Pocket Skirt and @Distracted_Historian flashes some ankle in a kicky little Peppermint Wrap Skirt in some gorgeous Merchant and Mills cotton linen.

OUT AND ABOUT

We love it when you take your makes out and about somewhere nice (and aren’t jealous at all). @DoctorWhoSews is repping an incredible Doops Designs fabric Peppermint Jumpsuit at UNESCO World Heritage Site Mahabalipuram, while @Indepenchant‘s shows off her lovecore-style Peppermint Wrap Top hack at a Chappell Roan show. Swoon!

JOURNEY TO THE WEST

Soft and cosy, these Peppermint West End Jacket hacks warm the cockles of our hearts. @Elle.Sy.Pique has duped a designer piece by cleverly quilting her chequered coat, and @Elllli_Knits’ sweet lilac make has added ruffles for maximum cuteness!

DRESSED TO KILL

A couple of classic drop-dead gorgeous dresses! @SewingWithDaisy is looking as adorable in her Peppermint Button Up Dress as her faithful four-legged friend, and @Melt.Stitches brings new life to the Peppermint Wide Strap Maxi Dress by adding two terrific tiers and pairing it with an enchanting May Gibbs print!

LA VIE EN ROSALIE

Our fabulous patternmaker friend @ForgetMeNotPatterns has unveiled her version of the Peppermint Rosalie Skirt and it is glorious! Peep the fitted back and interior lining! And check out another lovely version from @Helan_Creates in a breezy sky blue with some adorable daisies!

As the world careens towards AI seeping into our feeds, finds and even friend-zones, it's becoming increasingly hard to ignore.

We just wanted to say that here at Peppermint, we are choosing to not print or publish AI-generated art, photos, words, videos or content.

Merriam-Webster’s human editors chose 'slop' as the 2025 Word of the Year – they define it as “digital content of low quality that is produced usually in quantity by means of artificial intelligence.” The problem is, as AI increases in quality, it's becoming more and more difficult to ascertain what's real and what's not.

Let's be clear here, AI absolutely has its place in science, in climate modelling, in medical breakthroughs, in many places... but not in replacing the work of artists, writers and creatives.

Can we guarantee that everything we publish is AI-free? Honestly, not really. We know we are not using it to create content, but we are also relying on the artists, makers and contributors we work with, as well as our advertisers, to supply imagery, artwork or words created by humans. AI features are also creeping into programs and apps too, making it difficult to navigate. But we will do our best to avoid it and make a stand for the artists and creatives who have had their work stolen and used to train AI machines, and those who are now losing work as they are replaced by this energy-sapping, environment-destroying magic wand.

Could using it help our productivity and bottom line? Sure. And as a small business in a difficult landscape, that's a hard one to turn down. We know other publishers who use AI to write stories, create recipes, produce photo shoots... but this one is important to us.

'Touch grass' was also a Merriam-Webster Word of the Year. We'll happily stick with that as a theme, thanks very much. 🌿
