Don’t miss this amazing Brisbane PepTalks event at the fabulous Lightspace on Thursday 14 June 2018. We’re thrilled to be hosting Clare Press, author and presenter of the Wardrobe Crisis podcast and Australian VOGUE’s Sustainability Editor-at-Large; Tim Silverwood, ocean advocate and founder of the Take 3 movement; and Dr Rebecca Ray, clinical psychologist, author, founder of Happi habits and happiness expert. Plus the lovely Leah Musch, aka The Unmaterial Girl – a self-professed fast fashion addict turned slow fashion activist – will be our MC for the evening.
There’ll also be goodie bags, tasty treats, a glass of wine, free coffee from our lovely friends at Allpress and fantastic door prizes!

Clare Press
Clare Press is the presenter of the Wardrobe Crisis podcast and Australian VOGUE’s Sustainability Editor-at-Large. A passionate advocate for ethical fashion, she is Australia’s go-to journalist on the subject, and sits on the Australian advisory board of Fashion Revolution. Clare is the author of three books. Her first was The Dressing Table (Penguin, 2011), a collection of essays on style. Her second, Wardrobe Crisis, How We Went From Sunday Best to Fast Fashion (Nero), was named one of the Best Books of 2016 by The Age and the Sydney Morning Herald. Wardrobe Crisis was published in America in 2018. Clare’s third book, Rise & Resist is about activism and will be published by Melbourne University Press in October 2018.
Tim Silverwood
Tim Silverwood is a passionate advocate for protecting our oceans and environment from human impacts. A keen surfer, Tim became alarmed at the increasing risks plastic pollution posed to our oceans and wildlife, co-founding the not-for-profit organisation ‘Take 3’ in 2009. In 2011, Tim sailed 5000km across the North Pacific Ocean to study the infamous Great Pacific Garbage Patch, sharing his experiences through a popular TEDx talk on his return. Tim’s achievements include being awarded the 2014 Green Globe ‘Sustainability Champion’; featuring in the hugely popular ABC series ‘War on Waste’ and starring as an ‘Ocean Guardian’ in the 2017 feature documentary ‘Blue’.
Dr Rebecca Ray
Dr Rebecca Ray is a writer, author and happiness enthusiast who has been a Clinical Psychologist for over a decade. Her experience left her very clear that we all want to go to the same place: Some place where surviving is reserved for times of crisis and thriving is normal. Somewhere called HAPPY. She believes in creating a life worth living and in taking responsibility for making our lives as meaningful and rich as we can. She is the founder of the Happi Habits program, designed to help people live their best life possible with more colour in their days.

If you’d like to come early and purchase dinner, the fabulous Pizzantica will be serving up delicious pizzas (with vegan and gluten-free options) from 5pm.
Drinks and treats
There is a cash bar at the venue, however all tickets include one glass of wine on arrival and treats from NoDo Donuts in the break! Our good friends from Allpress Espresso will also be there to share their flavourful coffee blends.
