Rug up! Claire Ritchie’s flower prints meet your feet in this floor-adorning collab

The Sydney-based artist has teamed up with Vinisha Mulani of Sisa Studio to launch a playful collection of small-batch, rescued-wool rugs.

If ever a cat sat on a comfy mat (or rug!), it’d be sure to choose a cosy one from Sisa Studio’s glorious hand-tufted creations. We’re talking mindful collabs with female artists, featuring cheerful prints in hand-tufted New Zealand wool. Launched late last year, Sisa Studio works with artisans in an ethical factory in Bandung, Indonesia, to turn by-products of the carpet manufacturing process into unique (ahem, never-to-be-repeated) small-batch designs.

And the brand’s first series? It’s called ‘Renewal’ and it’s with none other than Peppermint fave Claire Ritchie (maker of joyful, bold flower art, flower stuffies and these cute-as-pie Kylie and the Machine x Claire Ritchie labels).

There are three designs in various colourways – some bold statement pieces, others playful designs in subtle, easy-to-match tones. Technically they’re made for the floor, but we reckon every room would be made more beautiful with a floral Bold Bloomer rug hanging on the wall (also avoids wine/matcha/kid casualties).

Perth-based creative Vinisha Mulani is the clever duck behind Sisa, which takes its name from the Indonesian word for ‘remainder’ or ‘remnant’. She comes from a long line of textile makers, hailing from India, Japan, Indonesia and Australia. She’s currently working through 20 tonnes of deadstock yarn, found in a single carpet factory.

Founder: Vinisha Mulani

In addition to artist collabs, she also produces Sisa Studio Staples, a collection of one-off rugs that make the most of those remnants and showcase experimental hand-tufting techniques (somewhere, between founding a company, rescuing wool and scoring a truly awesome collab artist, Vinisha has taught herself to tuft).

Don’t go sweeping this collab under the rug – your feet (and your cat) will thank you.
