Small Change Collective

Adelaide Fringe Festival

How badly do you want a new painting to decorate your wall? Enough to swap it for your flat screen TV? The Small Change Collective (SCC) investigate alternatives to the way we buy and sell high-end commodities like art, and their latest social experiment, x-change, is an art exhibition with a twist. For this year’s Adelaide Fringe Festival, SCC’s 11 artists will create works without financial reward in mind. Instead, they are happy to trade their creative labours for whatever buyers are willing to offer. That could be anything from a bottle of champagne to a car trailer or a massage. Small by name but not by nature, this collective are certainly challenging our ideas about market value.
