Positive events to inspire, inform and uplift.
PepTalks is a series of positive gatherings for anyone who’d like to experience a different type of evening out. Brought to you by Peppermint magazine, each PepTalks event features speakers from the pages of Peppermint and beyond who are making a difference in the world – be it through food, fashion, farming, mindfulness, creativity or social enterprise – and who are passionate about sharing their story, truth and wisdom with others.
Come along, be inspired, make authentic connections and prepare to go home feeling refreshed and a little more positive about the world. Let’s hear it for evenings with meaning!
Don’t miss our third PepTalks event at the fabulous Wandering Cooks in Brisbane on Tuesday 19 July. We’ll hear from weaver, artist and former Peppermint covergirl Maryann Talia Pau who’s on a mission to raise awareness of violence through her One Million Stars project; Anna Ross, the founder of Australian-made, cruelty-free nail polish and beauty brand Kester Black; and Jennifer Hillhouse, who co-founded beautiful Brisbane-based French antiques store, cafe and co-working space Vieille Branche with her husband JC.
We hope you’ll join us!
Maryann Talia Pau, One Million Stars
Get ready to be blown away by Maryann’s heart, soul and generosity of spirit. A weaver, artist and designer, she was inspired to start her One Million Stars project after the tragic murder of a young woman in her community. Her goal is to bring people around the world together to weave one million stars by 2018 – raising awareness of all forms of violence in the process. She’s currently holding star weaving events in Commonwealth countries around the world before showcasing the collected stars in an installation at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
Anna Ross, Kester Black
Anna Ross is a Melbourne-based design enthusiast and businesswoman. In 2012, she founded Kester Black, redefining the industry standard for ethically produced cosmetics by providing Australian-made, environmentally produced and cruelty-free products that are inspired by beautiful design. Kester Black is the result of Anna’s innovative and tireless approach to business, her love for beautiful design and her social and environmental values. She’ll be sharing the insights she’s gathered along the way – both in business and life.
Jennifer Hillhouse, Vieille Branche
Jennifer Hillhouse and her French husband JC Lehuby decided to start their own antiques store after trawling the markets of French seaside towns for treasures from years gone by. After jumping into the deep end by sending their first shipping container to Brisbane, they adapted their beautiful warehouse to include a cafe and co-working space – growing their local community in the process. They also welcomed their daughter Manou into the world and have been learning how to balance business and family. Jen has plenty of wisdom to share from the highs and lows of their journey.
