Nestle’s New Goals

Nestle environmental goals
With Easter only days away, it is certainly welcome news that popular chocolate brand Nestle has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing climate change. The company recently released 30 social and environmental goals to achieve by 2020, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions and direct water withdrawal by 15%. As an immediate step, they have committed to sourcing only sustainable palm oil by the end of the year. Earlier this month, the food giant started actively working to improve the sustainability performance of some of their products, even working with their major milk supplier in the UK to become more environmentally friendly. These kinds of initiatives have already seen a cut in supply chain waste by 8.8%. Although Oxfam have praised the brand for its efforts, they are pushing for even more transparency and action to ensure a greater environmental impact.
