Nayri Niara Festival

Nayri Niara Festival

If you happen to be heading to the Apple Isle, the Nayri Niara (Good Spirit) Festival is taking place between 5-7 April. Held on Bruny Island, it is a three day celebration of Indigenous music, arts and culture, featuring film screenings, weaving workshops, exhibitions and traditional dance circles. Many well known Indigenous and Pacific Islander musicians will be in Tasmania for a week prior to the festival as musicians-in-residence, working with young, local musicians to develop their skills and experience. As part of the festivities, singer/songwriter Emma Donovan is also working on a Songs for Life Project, which mentors three young women to collaborate on a song cycle. Find out more, including how to get tickets, on the festival website.
