Floating Land Festival

Kris Martin - Julara FS Big

From humble beginnings in 2001 as an outdoor sculpture exhibit, the biennial Floating Land Festival has grown into one of Australia’s leading green art events. This year’s installment runs from May 31 to June 9, with displays and performances happening all over the Sunshine Coast, including Noosaville, Boreen Point, Tewantin, Kin Kin and Cooroy. With the guiding theme of Nature’s Dialogue, artists have been invited to respond to the nature/science nexus in whatever medium they choose – sculpture, dance, weaving, digital art. The line up features a huge range of individuals and collectives, attracting local artists as well as international talent from India, Vanuatu, and a host of other nations. There are over 150 free community events taking place over the 10 days in everything from percussion to storytelling. For the full program visit the Floating Land website.
