We’ll welcome Peta Granger, the Australia and New Zealand Director of ethical handmade cosmetics brand LUSH; James Bartle, founding CEO of social enterprise fashion brand Outland Denim, and Belinda Evans, an Australian artist and maker who runs handmade label and online store Alchemy.

Peta Granger first joined LUSH 16 years ago as a sales assistant in Dublin and later joined International Development travelling to over 35 countries helping build LUSH businesses globally. She worked closely with the company founders and championed internal communication, employee development and engagement across the LUSH world. After 10 years in Europe she headed home to Melbourne taking up the Directorship of Australia and New Zealand leading the business to record breaking sales and winning Australian Retailer of the Year in 2015. In more recent years, Peta has led LUSH’s campaigning strategy, focusing on Asylum Seekers and LGBTI rights. She is passionate about empowering staff, transparent supply chains, challenging traditional beauty marketing and using the business to become a force for social change.
After attending a music festival where he met with anti-trafficking group Destiny Rescue, James Bartle ventured to Asia to learn more about the trafficking of young women for sexual exploitation. Inspired by the work of Destiny Rescue and determined to help these women find a better way of life, James created The Denim Project, an initiative to help those with an interest in sewing to further develop their skills in the craft. Through his personal love for denim, James founded clothing brand Outland Denim as a way to help eliminate exploitation in Cambodia. Today, many girls subject to exploitation have been able to reclaim their safety by working as seamstresses for the brand, and for each pair of Outland Denim jeans purchased online, $50 is donated to agencies committed to the fight against human trafficking. Using ethical and sustainable raw materials, Outland Denim jeans are made with a love for the environment and a drive to inspire buyers to learn about where their clothing comes from and the lives they have impacted in the process.
Belinda Evans is a sustainability educator, writer, photographer and artist based in Melbourne. Through all of her work, she aims to inspire others to live sustainably without compromising on quality or aesthetic. Inspired by the beauty and imperfection of the natural world, she spends a great deal of time with her eyes pointed downwards and her pockets filled with treasures from the earth and sea. In addition to having almost ten years experience building sustainable communities, she also has her own label, Alchemy, through which she sells her handmade textiles, homewares, and jewellery, contributes regularly to online journal The Planthunter, and has an impressive collection of leaves, shells and seed pods that she’s collected on her travels around Australia.
