Take Five: No Issue

NOIssue Sustainable packaging

We all know it’s what’s on the inside that counts, but let’s face it – when it comes to getting parcels in the post, a little bit of pretty packaging goes a long way. And when that packaging is noissue’s custom-designed, FSC-Certified tissue paper and compostable mailers – well, we’re definitely buying what they’re selling. We caught up with noissue co-founder Josh Bowden to unpack the basics of the brand…

Tell us about noissue.
noissue is a platform that enables small businesses, independent makers and brands to create their own custom sustainable packaging.

Why is being sustainable so important to you?
In this day and age, we simply can’t afford to not put sustainability at the forefront of business. It would be irresponsible not to, and we’re trying to make it easy for other businesses to do the same by offering sustainable packaging. In all honesty, when we started noissue, there was never a question about whether we would be making our packaging sustainable. It was just a given.

How do you achieve work–life balance?
I’m fortunate enough to have great friends and family who are wonderful to hang out with, so that helps me keep work at bay.

What are the challenges of running your own business?
I’m sure something that’s relatable for a lot of business owners is the difficulty of prioritising all the various aspects of the work. I’m passionate about what we do and that can make it hard to stop myself from taking on too much!

What’s the best thing you’ve ever received in the mail?
I recently ordered something online for my partner (I won’t mention the brand for fear of playing favourites!), and it was quite the treat when it arrived in one of our compostable mailers. It was a bit of a surreal moment, but also rewarding to see how widely embraced sustainable packaging has become. I guess that’s cheating the question a bit since it wasn’t the item necessarily (although my partner loved it!) – it’s just pretty neat to see your hard work pay off in that way.

We weren’t designed to carry this much emotional grief and world-wide trauma on an ongoing basis. Just know you’re not alone. It’s ok to not be ok. 🫢🏻

A toast to the old you πŸ₯‚

We wholeheartedly love this post from the brilliant @EmilyOnLife:

β€œ2026: Reinvent, burn it down, let it go (whatever it is). Year of the Snake it up. Exercise your boundaries, exercise your body, take one teeny step every day towards a life that feels better to be in.

But don’t you dare shit on your old self while you do it.

Hold yourself with reverence and tenderness and respect, because you got you this far. You did your very best with the information and tools you had at the time. You scraped yourself together, you made it work, you survived what felt impossible to survive: again and again and again.

You are perpetually in the process of becoming, whether you can feel it or not, whether or not you add it to your 2026 to-do list.β€œ
